Things are a bit busy right now and I haven’t had the time I hoped to have to spend on the blog. I’ll have a few things in the next few weeks but for now here’s a few recently published photos in Powder Magazine this season so far including the UK feature “Carry That Weight”. Hope you dig it.

I’ve been wanting to do some time lapses lately but it always seems that I have my D300 (second camera body) being used as a second remote angle being triggered by Pocket Wizards. I recently just got a GoPro HD and a pile of mounts so suddenly I have a camera to run time lapses when I have my camera bag emptied out throughout the mountain! I stuck the GoPro HD with a handlebar mount in the snow, turned it on, walked away. Pretty mellow. I was pretty suprised how well it came out. I had to do some post work on the photos like I normally would, cropped and put together in Quicktime Pro.
This jump session with Level 1 Productions in Sun Valley, ID went down pretty well and we got a lot of shots. Now we are just waiting for round 2 to shoot out of the helicopter!
I’ll hopefully have time to do this the rest of the spring through all the terrain park shoots.

This past week was quite the busy week. I went out with the JMills Entertainment crew filming for their upcoming moto video, “Elevate” to New Plymouth, Idaho for “The Big Nasty” Moto hill climb race. After a few days of shooting one of the gnarliest races I’ve ever shot, we moved on to Mountain View, Wyoming for a freeride shoot on the moon. The terrain there is crazy looking desert peaks with endless gullies and rolls. It was a lot of fun with some real long days and I have more photos than I know what to do with to edit through. Actually, it’s 66gb to be precise. I’ll have my hands full editing so this is just a tease until I can get through those. The photo above is hill climber of Jason Smith the 2010 NAHA champ in the 450 cc class.

After all the activities and hype the day finally came to shoot on the giant Monster claw jump. A radio show, poster signings, shotgunning Monster Energy drinks, entertaining hammered drunk locals, redneck truck stop shopping and a urban handrail session later the time for the big show was finally upon us.

Day 2 of the Scott / Monster weekend in Sun Valley has come and gone. Friday started with Tom Wallisch forgetting about the redneck flair factor and failed to wake up with his “Daddy’s Angel” bracelet on and the mandatory shotgun a 16 oz. Monster Energy drink happened. After a jittery start to the day for Tom the rest of Friday was a hype day for the big jump show the following day with radio shows, poster signings and an urban session with the 4Bi9 film crew would ensue. The radio show was pretty short lived but in true Chug Life fashion Ian Cosco belted out a “cheaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa” while the rest of the boys took to the air waves.

The road to Idaho is full of stops. This one happened to be a redneck’s dream full of bad taste in Twin Falls, ID.

This cover was quite the nice suprise in the mail today! I took this last season at a Rage Films night pipe shoot at Tamarack Resort, Idaho. This is the 3rd cover from that shoot so far, which has turned out to be the single most successful photo shoot I’ve ever done. This time around it’s Jen Hudak on the cover. It was a pretty big issue for me with 15 shots inside the magazine so I’m pretty stoked about that. It’s been a pretty good season for me on the editorial side, hopefully there are a few more of these covers coming. Right now the count is at 4 magazines and 2 DVD covers. If you want to check out the previous two covers from the shoot at Tamarack Resort click here for the SBC Skier cover of Mike Mertion, and here for the Australian and New Zealand Skiing Magazine of Davina Williams.

So just another jaunt from Seattle, back home to Salt Lake City, Utah. This time around I had an even later start than normal, had to drive overnight, rolling in at about 11am in SLC. Hey at least I got to see someone road rage on me with his 10 year old daughter in the car! Also of course got to see the sunrise and of course snapped a few photos.

So on the heels of getting the Rage Films “Such is Life” DVD box cover shot comes the Poor Boyz Productions Jib Jam DVD box cover. Poor Boyz Productions has been doing a spring terrain park shoot at Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho for the past 2 seasons now and is doing a seperate DVD from their main movie covering the entire shoot. I think it’s going to be pretty cool and of course I’m stoked that my photo is going to be on the box cover.
